“I am very pleased with the neurosurgical care I received from Dr. George Counelis and his staff at Bay Area Neurosciences. I had been suffering from serious sciatica pain in my right leg for years and epidural shots were no longer helping. I also started losing some mobility in my right ankle. After various physical tests, and a review of my MRI, which revealed a constriction in my spinal canal, Dr. Counelis explained that a decompressive laminectomy of my L4-L5 vertebrae should solve the problem of pain and reduced mobility. He also explained that he had performed a similar surgery on many patients, measured in four digits. I decided to proceed and the surgery was scheduled at John Muir Hospital for the following week. The surgery went well. I was walking short distances within days and back to my 3-mile walk around Lafayette reservoir in a little over two weeks–without serious sciatica pain. My back incision was about 2 inches and has pretty much disappeared. Bottom line, I had an excellent experience in all respects. I attribute that mostly to the excellent neurosurgical skills and experience provided by Dr. Counelis and his staff.”
“I came to Dr. Counelis’ practice in 2011, very frightened at the prospect of brain surgery for removal of a meningioma. My husband and I were in a state of shock. Dr. Counelis’ knowledge and his ability to give us facts and information regarding what was needed to solve my health problem was very reassuring. He gladly welcomed our questions and answered them clearly and completely, with very kind manner. His surgical skill is above compare, in my opinion, based on the excellent outcome I experienced. I credit him with my ideal results, due to his conscientiousness, innovative techniques and surgical skill. Dr. Counelis’ staff are excellent. Rosanne is so warm and welcoming, at the same time professional, detail-oriented and thorough. Her warm and up-beat attitude did much to help me feel that everything would be OK. I can recommend Bay Area Neurosciences without reservation. They are wonderful.”
